About the Coconet
Coconet is a net-like object that is clipped to the tree, under the fronds, and is able to entrap the falling coconut.
The trapped nut or nuts are then guided into a basket which can be lowered at the discretion of the owner.
The net is constructed so the trees appeal is not lost and that it does not look obtrusive.

What is the product made from?
The net and basket is made from low density polyethylene. All the hardware items such as chain, pulley, shackles etc are stainless. This means that the product is totally weatherproof.
What about uv resistance?
Green polyethylene is completely UV resistant.
What is the weight?
The entire net weighs less than 10 kg complete.
What colour is it?
Green is the preferred colour as it is UV resistant and actually less noticeable than any other colour against the backgrounds .
Does wind and rain effect the net
The net is made of large 'holes' that are on average 100mm x 100mm square. This allows wind, rain and small twigs etc to pass through without interference. Very high winds can pass through.
How does it look in the tree?
Whilst it is a noticeable item, the large holes ensure that you can look straight through it into the background rather than look straight at it. People are used to seeing, fences, tennis nets, pool fencing, shark nets and lots of others, so this will be equally as un obtrusive.
How long will a net last?
The net will be able to last for at least 10 years without abuse. It will come with a product guarantee of 12 months.
Does it require adjustments?
Once every 2 years the net should be adjusted to be closer to palm frond area and if the tree has developed a lean adjustments can be made accordingly.
What happens when the palm fronds start to lean on the net?
As palm fronds die off, they release slowly from their grip on the tree. This then allows the weight of the frond to lower, until the dead weight is heavier than the grip. When a frond leans against the net, the net will act as a pivot point so the weight and wind action will force a quicker release from the tree.
How does the net attach to the tree?
A chain is double wrapped around the tree high up near the fronds and the net is clipped to this chain. There is no tree damage.
How do you lower the basket?
The basket is attached to the tree via a pulley and several thin ropes. The ropes are tied off to a cleat and when the basket is full, the ropes can be used to lower the basket. Raising the empty basket by the ropes will automatically position the basket in the locating slots, ready for more nuts.
Can anyone install the net?
Nets are installed and serviced by a Coconet Service Team.
How many coconuts can the net hold at one time?
This is largely dependant on the size of the coconuts on each tree as they do vary.
What if several trees are close together, can we still apply nets to all?
Yes, all that is required is to stagger the height of installation of each adjacent net.
What about different sized trees?
The net is generic designed to cater for all size tree.
What if vandals want to cut the rope that holds the basket?
Depending on public access, the ropes can be attached at a nominated ladder height so as to lesson the chances.
